Adjacent to Nothing Biography

Adjacent To Nothing is a hard rock band from Orem, Utah. The band has been together for more than 7 years, and has shared the stage with bands like Type O Negative, Ill Nino, Flaw, Dry Kill Logic, 40 Below Summer, Atomship, Scum of the Earth, and Drowning Pool. They deliver a powerful and impressive live show, and bring to the stage a presence that visually, emotionally, and rhythmically draws in its audiences. The primary sound of this 5 man band is thick and powerful, laced with melodic undertones.

ATN's music comes from an eclectic mix of influences (from Yes to RATM to Slipknot). They have been compared to bands such as Tool, Korn, Mudvayne, System of a Down, and many variations of hybrids of likeminded groups. The melodic elements in their songs, however, distinguish Adjacent To Nothing from other hard rock and metal bands. Their music, while essentially retaining a darker feel, ranges between mellow, hypnotizing, and beautiful, to brutal, powerful, and aggressive.

Not pigeonholing themselves into only addressing a small area of interest, lyrically, their songs address a variety of real life issues. From darker areas such as heartache and loss, distain and disgust, and deep emotional torment, to using irony to point out flaws in certain ways of thinking and living. Though not a politically minded band, they have even addressed such timely issues as terrorism, war, and the general lack of common sense dictiating our current society.

This musical edge helped them gain the attention of one of the best producers in the rock world. Their self titled album was produced by Sylvia Massy, known for her work with Tool, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Deftones, System of a Down, and Powerman 5000, and her lead engineer, Rich Veltrop, at her facility Radio Star Studios in California. Destined to become a classic album, the tracks were mastered by Adam Ayan protégé of mastering guru Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering. Among Adam's credits are Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Phish, Disturbed, Rush, and Megadeth.
