Chemicals of Democracy Biography

Chemicals of Democracy aka C.O.D. is fronted by Darrin Richards vocals/lead/ rhythm guitar. Richards started his musical journey at age 12, drawn into the metal scene with such influences as Ozzy, The Who, and Judas Priest guiding his style. Darrin's vocals are highly unique incorporating that thick metal throatiness with melodic rock attitude. Scott Allan rhythm guitarist/backup vocals joined the band later on as they went from a 3 piece to a 5 piece with a much more honed sound and direction. Allan's stellar guitar abilities and complimenting vocals helped COD to make a huge impact on the local metal scene. Ryan Maloney drums/backup vocals came in a few years ago just before Chemicals of Democracy headed out to Spain and other countries on the "Hard Rock Hellfest" tour. Ryan's thunderous double kick abilities along with harmonizing skills have made C.O.D. a true force in heavy metal. Mike Hamilton lead guitar/back-up vocals joined C.O.D. in 2016 ready to contribute his unique style with an extensive background in music. He has crafted his guitar skills with the utmost care and precision making C.O.D.'s dual guitar harmonies stand out during the ripping guitar solos making C.O.D.'s music especially rich and thick. The most recent addition to C.O.D. is Zane Storto on bass. Zane's bass abilities reminisce those of the greatest bassists in music today with influences from Geddy Lee, Justin Chancellor, and Geezer Butler, Storto is an amazing addition to this powerhouse band. Chemicals of Democracy also went on tour twice in Europe on the "Hammerfest" tour (http://www.thrashhits.com/2013/03/hammerfest-2013-chemicals-of-democracy-friday-15-march-2013/) (interview: http://getyourrockout.co.uk/wp/about/hammerfest-2012/hammerfest-2012-interviews/chemicals-of-democracy-interview-hammerfest-2012/) opening for bands such as Anthrax and Hatebreed and taking Europe by storm with their album "The American Scream" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/chemicals-of-democracy/id712635043) released on Dark Lord records and co-produced by the legendary Chris Tsangarides (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Tsangarides), known for his award winning productions of Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy and many more internationally known bands. C.O.D.'s hit song "Paradise" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKHjq8_gXU0) gained them even more notoriety throughout the world. The Phoenix New Times raves "Chemicals of Democracy is far from an average band...akin to ground zero of a nuclear holocaust of brain melting metal..." (http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/music/chemicals-of-democracy-brings-a-modern-approach-to-its-brain-melting-metal-6609927). If you're looking for that necessary metal fix we all must have invading our very soul, look no further than Chemicals of Democracy.
