Jason Stan Biography

Biography

March 2018 marks "imajelee" the first new single from Jason Stan in over 3 years in musical exile after suffering the debilitating Spasmodic Dysphonia, a neurological issue. The exact causes are unknown but it’s believed to be caused somewhere in the base of the brain. Simply put, the nervous system acts incorrectly and sends the wrong signals down to the vocal chords and your singing voice comes and goes as it pleases.

Stan says "I first noticed something was wrong whilst recording "Saving Jamie" and I've been losing my voice slowly and progressively ever since. For a songwriter and singer, it's debilitating when something that's given to you at birth is slowly stolen away from you and my story mirrors that of so many other artists' out there. I've been told it could be a long and tedious road to singing normally again but I know I'll come through it...voice intact."

Well he has and imajelee promises to be the biggest release of Jason's career to date not to mention a total departure to past sounds and produced by the infamous Lee Bradshaw.

Hailing from the Australian National Theatre of performing arts, top 5 artist and singer/songwriter Jason Stan is best known for his portrayal of Johnny O’Keefe in the hit musical "Sing, Sing, Sing - The Johnny O'Keefe Story" but it was program manager Bruce Neels from one of Australia's largest radio stations 7LA who discovered him in 1996 and it would later lead to the Herald Sun reporting on Jason's first ever Top 5 single and spawned his first album release “No Apologies”. Since then Jason has gone ahead to release 4 studio albums and a steady stream of singles including the much talked about "Wellington Road", firmly cementing himself as not only a stellar singer and theatre performer but one of Australia's most prolific songwriters as well.

In 2005 Jason was responsible for penning, arranging and producing the radio friendly pop song "My Name Is Schapelle". It was the only song written for and about Schapelle Corby to consequintly be officially endorsed by Schapelle Corby and her family with Mercedes Corby and Kay Danes labelling it as"truly beautiful".

A recent pop release by Jason titled "Fall From Grace" gained the attention of Music manager and publisher Keith Welsh (Savage Garden) but it was Jason's self penned and powerfully moving ballad "Wellington Road" that wiped the floor with music critics worldwide. Accross the board, critics have been universal in their praise for "Wellington Road" as a beautifully crafted song filled with elaborate string sections and hauntingly honest lyrics. Written by Stan in April of 2011 and produced by Damien Montalto, "Wellington Road" went ahead to become the highest selling single release of Jason's career even outselling his Top 5 single of 1996 "My Girl".

In 2014 Jason again re surfaced with a fresh new sound with the hard edged “Firewall” released through Universal Music Group. Teaming up once again with producer Damien Montalto, “Firewall” showcased Stan at the top of his game vocally while again revealing his prolific ability as a songwriter. Jason says "When we originally sat down to discuss the song, I told Damien that I wanted him to push the envelope on production as far as it could be pushed, that I wanted Firewall to be the best thing I had ever done. He achieved my goal in spades".

February 20th, 2015 marks the official release of Jason's much anticipated new single "Saving Jamie".

Across all formats of musical theatre Stan has earnt himself an International status playing the lead roles of Johnny O'Keefe in the Australia wide musical stage presentation of "Sing Sing Sing - The JOK Show", portraying Jon Bon Jovi in the corporate stage presentation of "Jovi" and in 2013 playing the multi talented Franki Valli in the production lite stage presentation of "Valli".
