Jonathan Markov Biography
Jonathan Markov is a musician and songwriter whose broad-ranging music breaks patterns and barriers, going for a very personal twist.
His songs are inspired by genres as diverse as alternative rock, folk and blues, and his arrangements often follow non-traditional solutions. Jonathan’s performances are intimate and understated, yet he is not afraid to experiment with guitar looping, articulate guitar phrases, as well as interesting textures and ambient tones.
Armed with his trusty loop station and with a wide variety of other instruments, Jonathan is a one-man powerhouse who can seamlessly create lush walls of sound and melodies, all by himself.
Recently, the Ontario artist released two new EPs, titled “Sweater Scent” and “Little Cocoon Boy”.
The music featured within these releases is personal, direct and intimate, allowing Jonathan’s folk influences to collide with his fondness for personal lyrics and introspective themes. Both EPs are rooted in very romantic overtones with a hint of nostalgia, yet with hopeful and uplifting melodies.
