BOXRUBA Biography
BOXRUBA plays alternative indie-rock with contagious, catchy hooks and is renowned for its energetic live shows. In support of its first EP Shooting Sounds (2015) the band toured across the Netherlands and abroad. In 2016 BOXRUBA will release its second EP produced by Martijn Groeneveld (Dotan, John Coffey, Rondé).
Singer Aymar grew up around the Aruban shore listening to audio tapes of Incubus, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Latin American Bossanova. In order to continue his music career he moved to the Netherlands at the age of 19. After wandering around some different bands he rediscovered his love for rock music after joining four experienced musicians from the south of the Netherlands. That's when the ball started rolling.
In 2015 BOXRUBA released its first (self-produced) EP Shooting Sounds. In support of this EP the band toured across the Netherlands and abroad. From the Dutch club scene to the Tazigen Festival in Berlin, Germany and in between some pit stops at several national radio stations. In the summer of 2015 the band went viral on YouTube with their rock version of Major Lazer’s Lean On. Around Christmas BOXRUBA started collaborating with producer Martijn Groeneveld (Mailmen) and recorded their second EP which will be released in 2016.
