“A Time to Dance” captures the rich life of Libby Skala’s great aunt, Austrian dancer Elizabeth Polk. The New York Times has called Skala’s one-woman show “funny . . . captivating . . . charming” as she portrays the story of a zany and electric woman who never let disappointments cloud the vibrancy and beauty of her life. Lisl was born and educated in Vienna, Austria. In 1938, she immigrated to the United States where she co-founded the National Dance Teachers Guild, and became a charter member of the American Dance Therapy Association – which honored her with a lifetime achievement award for her pioneering work with special children in 1995. Her grand-niece Libby Skala is a playwright and actor who has won the Best Solo Performer Award at The London Fringe Theatre Festival. Libby’s tender celebration of her great aunt's extraordinary life promises to be an afternoon of exquisite theater.
