About this concert
Fischer-Z is a British rock group around the singer and guitarist John Watts. It is considered one of the most popular bands of the New Wave in the beginning of the 1980s.The band published three successful music albums between 1979 and 1981. Several songs from the 1979 debut album Word Salad, such as Pretty Paracetamol and Lies, deal with the work in psychiatry, as John Watts, who views Fischer-Z as an artistic project initiated by him, worked before his career as a musician in psychiatric Clinics in southern England. The success album `Red Skies over Paradise` from the year 1981 is almost all about the Cold War, such as Berlin, Battalions of Strangers and Red Skies over Paradise. The play Cruise Missiles deals with the atomic war and the mutual threat of the supermarkets with an atomic war. From 1982 John Watts worked solo. His two albums One More Twist and Iceberg Model were successful, but he was only able to start with the first successes only conditionally. From 1984 he was then active for an album under the band name The Cry. Only in 1987 did he return to the band name Fischer-Z with the album Reveal. Apart from himself, however, the band was no longer a member of the original cast, but this is relativized by the fact that Watts himself understands Fischer-Z as an important part in the repertoire of his overall artistic creation; With the exception of four, Watts has exclusively composed and composed all the songs under the group name. In addition to some Fischer Z albums, he also released solo albums under his own name after 1987.In the year 2004, a small show led to a short-term reunion of the band in the original setting. Since 2010, Watts has been regularly on tour with three younger musicians with his artistic project Fischer-Z in Germany and other European countries.

John Warrs of Fischer-Z fame is one of England's finest and most under-rated and under appreciated singer songwriters. John Watts was on fine form, delving into his amazing back catalogue and interspersing with anecdotes from his career, and a small slice of political comment. Shows in the UK are rare these days, so next time make sure you check him out.
