All Time Low formed as a high school cover band playing Blink-182 and Green Day songs, but its members quickly graduated from ardent fans to pop-punk stars. In 2007, Rolling Stone referred to the act’s irreverent nasal style as “the whine of the times,” symbolic of the genre’s sound. A decade later, the musicians are approaching thirty, and they just released their most serious album yet: Last Young Renegade, which garnered the band its fifth top-ten spot on the Billboard charts. And while All Time Low might be ready for the music to reflect its maturity, the group’s fans remain the same age. Even this tour’s opening acts — SWMRS, Waterparks, the Wrecks — cite All Time Low as a major influence. In pop punk, being the elder statesmen still means slinging dick jokes and stringing bras on mic stands, despite adding darker, sharper songwriting.
