About this concert
The DMV’s own Goodly Beggars draw on American folk, roots, Irish, and alternative music. Their new song “Great Seneca Lake” was recently the subject of a music video by the Nashville media group, Amplify Entertainment, and their debut EP “Chew the Pages”, is streaming and available and download at noisetrade.com/thegoodlybeggars. They are looking forward to playing a lively acoustic set at Falls Church’s own The Happy Tart, which serves up delectable gluten-free French pastries, delicious crepes, and more. Come by for dinner, drinks, and a show!

The Goodly Beggars Biography

"The Goodly Beggars are making honest folk music that feels fresh and genuine. It's the kind of music that reveals itself in layers and has something to fresh to offer each listen." - Ear to the Ground Music The Goodly Beggars formed in 2009 when childhood friends Charles and Philip ended up at the same college and began writing and playing music together. In 2011 they had the chance to record their songs, most in a single take to preserve the raw, live energy. And somewhere in between the sandwich runs and the midnight sessions in which you happen to run into an entire chorus of friends who would sound great for "Moss Cathedrals" Chew the Pages was born, and promptly given away on Noisetrade (http://www.noisetrade.com/thegoodlybeggars/chew-the-pages) and Bandcamp (https://goodlybeggars.bandcamp.com). After a few years in separate states they are back in D.C. and recently submitted a new song and video to NPR's Tiny Desk Concert contest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mGEkXrih58 See The Goodly Beggar's interview with Ear to the Ground Music for more about the meaning behind the band name, EP name, and more: http://www.eartothegroundmusic.co/2013/05/17/free-music-friday-the-goodly-beggars-interview/ The Goodly Beggars play music around Washington, D.C.
