About this concert
The Cutting Room Presents:The Songs of Gene Clark: A 50th Anniversary CelebrationWed, February 22, 2017Doors: 6:30 pm / Show: 7:30 pmThe Cutting RoomNew York, NY$25.00 - $30.00The Songs of Gene Clark: A 50th Anniversary CelebrationThe Songs of Gene Clark: A 50th Anniversary CelebrationAfter leaving folk-rock pioneers The Byrds at the height of their fame, Gene Clark pursued a solo career that ultimately revealed the legacy of a world-class songwriter, gifted poet, and widely influential musical chameleon; one whose most well known works, White Light (1971) and No Other (1974) are rightly hailed as classics of the rock era.For Clark aficionados, however, his debut solo album (released in February 1967) holds much significance, because it was here, free from the pressures that drove him to leave a successful band that scored two number-1 singles during his tenure, that Clark was able to craft his own unique musical vision.Fifty years later, the “Gene Clark with the Gosdin Brothers” album is recognized as the tour de force it was all along: 11 tracks penned or co-penned by the artist, incorporating garage rock, country rock and chamber pop with equal measures of poetic brilliance and uncommon melodic ease.Every track on the album is tremendous, filled with enough lyrical twists and musical turns to warrant cover versions of key tracks like "Tried So Hard" (the Flying Burrito Brothers, Iain Matthews, Yo La Tengo) and "So You Say You Lost Your Baby" (Paul Weller with Death in Vegas). The Gene Clark ‘50’ concert series caps a year of renewed interest in Gene Clark's oeuvre. In 2016 alone we've witnessed the release of a tribute album by Canadian folk standbys the Skydiggers; a grassroots campaign to induct Gene Clark in the Songwriters Hall of Fame; a critically acclaimed album on Sierra Records of previously unreleased works; and a tribute concert in San Francisco.Venue Information:The Cutting Room44 E. 32nd St.New York, NY, 10016http://thecuttingroomnyc.com/Tickets: http://tickets.thecuttingroomnyc.com/event/1399960-songs-gene-clark-50th-new-york/Tickets: $25-$30Doors open at 6;30pm

Edward Rogers Fan Page Biography

EDWARD ROGERS

Singer-songwriter Edward Rogers was born in Birmingham, England where he spent the first 12 years of his life. He moved to New York City just as the British Invasion began in the States, and started his career behind the drum kit playing in several garage bands. When a subway accident in October 1985 left him without his right arm and right leg below the knee, Rogers turned to songwriting and found that he enjoyed singing and writing more rewarding than playing drums.

Over the past decade, Rogers has been extremely prolific, releasing eight solo albums, two with Bedsit Poets, a Folk/Brit-inspired trio whose name was given to them by The Zombies’ Colin Blunstone, and EP and an album with Rogers & Butler (Edward Rogers, Steve Butler).

His latest album, Catch A Cloud, was released on June 25, 2021 and he will be doing a record release show on August 26, 2021 at The Cutting Room in NYC to celebrate its release.

Rogers has played extensively in New York, and the east coast, Los Angeles, Canada and England as a solo artist and with Bedsit Poets and Rogers & Butler. He has been invited to open for many artists including Terry Reid, Ian Hunter, Marty Willson-Piper of The Church, Colin Blunstone and The Zombies.

In addition to his fruitful songwriting career, Rogers co-produced 20 shows for the extremely successful series “The Beat Goes On” at NYC’s The Bottom Line. He has co-hosted the Irish Rock Revue for several years, at well-respected venues such as The Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and the Highline Ballroom. Additionally Rogers is a regular performer in the highly-successful “Losers Lounge” series at Joe’s Pub and co-hosts the radio show “Atlantic Tunnel” weekly on WFMU's Rock 'N Soul Radio and monthly on Totally Wired Radio in London.
