About this concert
Thurs 13th April (Easter Weekend) - Heavy Pop presents The Amazons, Estrons + LUCKY PUNKSEntry: £8.50 Adv. 14+Ticket: https://www.heavypop.co.uk/events/2017-04-13-the-amazons-sub89THE AMAZONS“Deliciously heavy” – NME“Undeniably special” – ClashFollowing their October sold out hometown show the band return to play their biggest Reading gig to date. The band were recently nominated for a Q Award for Best Breakthrough Act, followed by this week being Annie Mac's Hottest Record In The World with 'Little Something' out Jan 20th.Produced by Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals, The Vaccines), ‘Little Something’ elevates the clash of melody and aggression that simmered in The Amazons’ previous single ‘In My Mind’. It starts with an ominous air of moody atmospherics before erupting into a fiery ball of energy following a dynamic breakdown that inspires chaos when the band performs it live. The Amazons first attracted a whirlwind of attention after uploaded their demo of ‘Something In The Water’ to SoundCloud. By 2015, their reputation had grown to the extent that they were invited to support The Kooks on their European tour where they played shows in venues which scaled up to a 7000 people capacity. More accomplishments soon followed: their debut single ‘Junk Food Forever’ was released on their own Goth Cruise label, while a homecoming set at the Reading Festival’s BBC Introducing stage proved to be a triumphant moment which demonstrated that they’re ready to take on the rest of the world.ESTRONSHyped Cardiff band Estrons return to Reading as main support to The Amazons. A top band.LUCKY PUNKSLUCKY PUNKS are Adam Pizey (Drums, Vocals), Ross Kelly (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Tom Harrison (Bass) and Cameron Smith (Guitar, Keys, Vocals). They cite a wide-ranging list of influences, from The Kinks to Duran Duran. With elements of mid-90s Britpop, proto-punk and gritty New Wave, their Albarn-esque witticisms and driving guitars combine to form a captivating live performance.
