Louis Romégoux Biography

BIOGRAPHY ENGLISH: Louis Romégoux is an Anglo-French folk musician born and raised in Sheffield, England but now living in Austria amongst the vineyards and orchards of South Styria in a little hamlet called Petzles, located 30 mins to the south of Graz and 25 minutes from Maribor in Slovenia. Drawing on influences from both sides of the channel, as well as a few from across that larger Atlantic pond, Louis sound captures the essence of folk in its raw, free flowing form. Encompassing ever-expanding boundaries, the fluidity and freedom of Louis music keep his live performances fresh and exciting every time. In his time as a solo and band musician Louis has toured (solo) with John Smith, Denis Jones and the Random Family, plus he has also played concerts with Teddy Thompson, Jon Gomm, Slow Club, David John Roch, John Fairhurst, Ed Prosek, Liz Green, Milburn and has appeared at the same festival as the Arctic Monkeys. He has gigged extensively throughout the UK and mainland Europe, including an appearance at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s in London in June 2013. He also sang in a Sheffield-based band called Watch This Fire Spread. He has self-released three EPs. His last two EPs ‘Letters’ (released spring 2013) and 'Milou' (released spring 2014) are both available on iTunes, Spotify, GooglePlay and Amazon. Louis is currently compiling and arranging an album of folk songs from the places that have inspired his background: Sheffield & Yorkshire, England (where he was brought up) the Ardèche, France (where his French family come from), Swansea, Wales (where his maternal grandparents hail from) and the songs and folklore of Styria, Austria (the place he now calls home). For this project he is currently researching local dialects and the influence of Slovenian on southern Styrian language, plus he is working on texts in Languedoc/Ardechois patois with the aim of giving an insight into previously unheard, or new interpretations of classic local folk songs. An album is planned for release in the winter of 2014/2015. Milou debut full band EP out now on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/milou-ep/id880039580. www.louisromegoux.com
