Sidecar Biography
Sidecar started out as a side studio project back in 1997. At the time, Kenny Negrete owned Jabbz recording studio in Long Beach and the Sidecar recordings were mostly composed of on-the-fly collaborations with the musicians coming through the studio. Eventually, a core group emerged out of all the collaborations and what started out as a side project began to take form.
Kenny Negrete, wears many hats in the group: producer, engineer, and keyboard player to name a few. Lili De La Mora, helps out with vocal melodies, lyrics and an occasional guitar riff and or noise maker. Matt Miyahara has been a friend since childhood and is the main lyricist and official court jester of the outfit. Joel O'Neill plays bass, drums, keyboards, accordion, and to be honest basically anything he sets his mind to.
The group sound has evolved throughout the years and each release has the imprint of the current collaborators. In this way, Sidecar remains true to its beginnings and original intent to bring new songs to life through collaboration.
Sidecar released "Songs from another cupboard" in 2001 and is currently working on its second full-length offering, "Stars are Out on this Rusty Night," to be released late 2005. Ken Negrete is concurrently working on his first release with Familiar Trees and Lili De La Mora on recording a solo album, both due to be released in 2005.
