Woodland West Biography
Woodland West was formed in Seattle in late 2013. With influences ranging from Bela Fleck and Alison Krauss to Pink Floyd, the band takes a unique approach to their music by blending bluegrass/Americana with other genres such as psychedelic rock and zydeco. Using non-traditional multi-instrumentation, improvisation, and multiple harmonies, they have carved out a unique sound that challenges traditional bluegrass norms. The band has since opened for national touring acts, including Emi Sunshine and Melody Guy, and has participated in a number of festivals, including The Olalla Bluegrass Festival, Leavenworth Autumn Leaf Festival, and The University District Street Fair. The band released their debut album ‘Devil to Pay’ on August 19, 2016, and completed a west coast tour in October 2016. A mix of bluegrass, country, folk, zydeco, groove, calypso, and rock with a improv twist from the Pacific Northwest.
