Brassroots Biography
For over a decade, Brassroots has set stages ablaze and hearts ricocheting across the dancefloor with their charismatic fusion of funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul told through brass.
In 2012, having independently released their self-titled debut album, Brassroots received global radio play from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and in the US on Jeremy Sole, KCRW. They also began appearing on DJ sets across the world such as those of the incredible Rich Medina, across different media platforms and have even been heard in a lift in Las Vegas.
This international support for ‘Brassroots’ and the single ‘Black Eye Friday' resulted in thousands of global chart appearances and garnered them a number one in New Zealand.
Venues, festivals, and events that have hosted their talent include Ronnie Scotts, The National Theatre, Glastonbury, London Jazz Festival, Secret Garden Party, Standon Calling and WOMAD UK in the Canary Islands where 40,000 people gyrated to Brassroots on the streets of Las Palmas.
They have appeared as the house band for the finale of Channel 4's Ultimate Celebrity Big Brother, performed widely across Europe and in 2018 they represented the UK at the World Expo in Kazakhstan.
Their energizing collaborations have featured alongside other chart topping artists such as Rudimental, Coolio, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Stylo G, Elle Eyre, John Newman and Duke Dumont.
As a new decade dawns, Brassroots continue to push the envelope; rocking the party worldwide and advocating for rebel brass everywhere.
