DJ Level

LEVEL, born Martin Yarbrough, is a DJ that blends the unconditional favorites of the past with the booming bass of the present. A 90s baby, he seamlessly possess the ability to bridge classic hip-hop, R&B, rap, trap and indie with soulful classics, deep house and the top 40 of today. Ingrained with Bay Area (El Sobrante) roots, as you will learn two sentences and five “hellas” in, he has been fortunate enough to experience music from cultures domestic and internationally. At 18, he left for college at North Carolina A&T where he found more interest in the music on laptop and DJ software than his initial major. The next year he would leave for The City College of New York where he would find a community of producers, vocalists, MCs, Hosts and Hostesses known as WCCR the school radio station. There he would find the time to graduate while spinning over fifty school events in a two year span including fashion shows, talent shows, GREEK life, Galas, Balls, dances, parties, (lots in apartments), church services, discussion groups, Cultural festivals, club hours, as well as a weekly radio show (West Coast Wednesdays) and placing second in an annual DJ contest. Outside of the educational sphere, LEVEL is familiar to showcases, the club and lounge scene as well as DJing over-seas, literally, on multiple cruises withe Festival at Sea. Within NYC he has performed at venues such as PH-D, HK Lounge, The Delancey, The Lotus Club, Velvet, Stone Creek Lounge and many more. Through 2016 he held a residency at Kimoto Rooftop in Downtown Brooklyn. With Festival at Sea he has been fortunate enough to be a resident DJ for their annual 7-day Caribbean cruise, now on its 25th sailing, for the past 7 years where he would provide music for deck parties featuring a audience of over 3000 passengers traveling the Southern United States and the Caribbean. For inspiration and guidance, he has been fortunate enough to surround himself with talented and established DJs from his hometown and internationally. In 2016 he became a certified Scratch DJ learning from Dirty Digits and many others at Scratch NYC. Among his favorite inspiring DJs are Jazzy Jeff, Quest Love, J.Espinosa, NASA, Angelo, TRAYZE, Shiftee and more close to home favorites such as LA’s Styles Davis, Bay Area legend Mind Motion and DJ Taz from San Francisco. Musically loves everything from Mozart to Skrillex. LEVEL resides in Harlem. DJ Level is bred out of the Bay Area, California and currently located in Harlem, New York.
