Dope Rebels Biography

Dope Rebels is a Hip Hop music group based in Jamaica Queens NY. Three emcee's by the name of Slyy Coop, Klutch, & Benjy B accompanied by various other members (who are generally known as the foot soldiers) make up this group. Influenced by the 90's style of Hip Hop, Dope Rebels uses their love of music to tell a story that can relate to any inner city kid with a hope and dream. The message conveyed in all the music is self love and strengthening your self conscious aka your "Third Eye" to become the true rebel you are meant to be. One of dope rebels' biggest accomplishments was their performance at Afropunk's Battle of the Bands, a competition for rising stars. Although they may have not taken the crown, Dope Rebels turned out to be the people's champion that night, obtaining a standing ovation. Ambitiously chasing dreams and determined to receive their well deserved recognition, Dope Rebels continue to perform in locations all over NYC including places such as Palisades, Black Bear Bar, Beast of Bourbon muchmores and much more (no pun intended)! They've even broadened their horizons performing at college campuses such as Rutgers University, and charity clubs such as the Ronald McDonald Charity House. According to I.S. Jones from upcominghiphop.net, Dope Rebels will remind you of "that hard gangsta rap of the 90's". A collective of talented young individuals. Age of misguided youths using music to spark a voice for the new generation. Artistic Disobedience.
