The Stein Project Biography
Guitarist Jason Lohman and drummer Spencer Stevens met in Eugene, OR while attending the University of Oregon in 2008 and shortly after they started a band called Stein. With only two original songs to the name, the band started playing at house parties around campus. Quickly the band evolved beyond basements parties and gained a small, but loyal, following through energetic and at times quirky performances, complete with fun covers and improvised material. In the summer of 2011 the duo recorded their first LP entitled Lost in the Underground. After 2 years and one album as a two-piece, Stein decided to expand and added bassist Nolan Williams to the mix. The trio constantly gigged throughout Eugene and recorded their first full length, self-titled album that summer
Unfortunately, and respectfully, Williams had to depart to the other side of the globe for academic related reasons. Thankfully, good friend and bassist/guitarist for Orion, Cory Howie, stepped in to take over.
Lohman, Stevens, and Howie are currently relocated to Portland, Oregon where they continue to write and play music. However, due to recent circumstances, the boys could no longer be known as "Stein" so a swift change was implemented to The Stein Project.
