The Ted Chubb Band consists of the incredible talents of Ted, on trumpet, Bruce Williams – alto, Seth Johnson – guitar, Tom Dicarlo – bass, Oscar Perez – piano, Jason Tieman – drums!Ted Chubb is an American trumpeter that delivers a fresh approach to modern jazz, drawing the listener in with striking originals and reimagined classics, while keeping the audience swinging and partying along. Ted tells a musical story reminiscent of the sophistication of Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, and Ahmad Jamal, mixed with the funky swagger of Lee Morgan, interpreted through the lens of a new era, and a wide palate of diverse musical influences.
Ted Chubb began his career performing in his native Ohio with mid-west legends, B3 organist Bobby Floyd and saxophonist Gene Walker. Ted received his MM from Rutgers University and studied with master trumpet teacher William “Prof.” Fielder. From 2006-2011, he toured with the Tony award-winning show "Jersey Boys". Ted co-led the critically acclaimed quartet “New Tricks” which released two recordings and toured extensively throughout the U.S. Ted has performed with artists such as Wallace Roney, Christian McBride, Winard Harper, Don Braden, Melissa Walker, Bruce Williams, Billy Hart, Tia Fuller, Vincent Gardner, Dave Stryker, Josh Evans, Lenny White, Jerome Jennings, and Cecil Brooks III. Ted has performed across the globe from NYC jazz clubs Smalls, Fat Cat, The Jazz Standard, Minton's, and Dizzy's at Jazz at Lincoln Center, to Jazz Festivals across North America, South America, and Europe, and even "The Tonight Show". Ted served as teaching artist and Jazz House Director of Music from 2012 -2015 for the nationally recognized music education program Jazz House Kids. While at Jazz House Kids, Ted also organized and performed on two tours of Peru in partnership with the U.S. Embassy of Lima, bringing some of the nations top student musicians, faculty, and Jazz House Kids founder and vocalist Melissa Walker, to perform for school children and communities in need. He currently resides in New York City and Luzern Switzerland, focusing on his own projects both internationally and in NYC. In addition, Ted continues to be involved at Jazz House Kids as the Director of the Jazz House Summer Workshop and Special Programs.
