Progger is an unusual collection of gifted musicians who werebrought together by the simple desire to create new powerful,beautiful, engaging, modern music. Originating in Austin,Texas in 2011, Progger is led by saxophonist, keyboardist, andcomposer Brian Donohoe and incorporates some of the mostin-demand young touring and session musicians from theTexas and New York City music scenes. With compelling compositionsand energetic live performances, Progger hassteadily developed a devoted following through nationaltours, studio releases, and viral videos. The group’s thirdfull-length release, Scattering, will be released through RopeadopeRecords on April 22, 2016.Destinee Ware, owner of the legendary venue “One2One” inAustin, says “Progger commands attention. The musicians onstage are of the highest quality and it shows. The songarrangements are smart and dierent with unexpectedchanges at every turn.” Stated simply by Grammy-winningproducer and Snarky Puppy band leaderMichael League,“Progger rocks.”Progger’s personnel includes contributors to such musicluminaries as Erykah Badu, Snarky Puppy, Col. Bruce Hampton,and Chrisette Michele, among numerous others. Buildingon inspiration from artists as diverse as Herbie Hancock,Soundgarden, D’Angelo, Parliament-Funkadelic, and MauriceRavel, the group has synthesized a unique and fearless originalsound that cohesively combines exciting inuences whilecreating a uniquely personal atmosphere.The rst two releases by Progger, Beatmaker (2013) and Populace(2014), were released to critical acclaim and a warmreception by fans. Scattering represents a number of excitingdepartures for the band, including the incorporation of newpersonnel, production techniques, and a recording processthat involved two cities 1,700 miles apart, Austin and Brooklyn.Progger’s regular personnel were joined by some of NewYork’s nest young musicians, including Nate Werth (percussion)and Justin Stanton (keyboards) of Snarky Puppy, toexplore larger textures and a hugely diverse sound palette forthe new music.Progger will be performing extensively in the United Statesand Canada throughout 2016 and 2017 to support the releaseof Scattering and to bring its unique, exciting sound to newears across North America.
