Charenee Wade was the first runner-up in the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Vocal Competition.  She is currently a professor at the Aaron Copland School of Music, City College, and with the Jazzmobile Workshop program. Charenee teaches various workshops and clinics and was an esteemed judge for the 2010 Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, alongside Dr. Billy Taylor and Grady Tate.
Her debut CD, Love Walked In was released in July 2010 to rave reviews. Charenee's 2015 release on the Motema Music label is entitled Offering: The Music of Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson.  Charenee's ensemble includes Oscar Perez on piano, Paul Beaudry on bass, and Darrell Green on drums.
"Known for expert vocal improvisational ability and her seriously swinging groove, Wade evokes a classic Jazz sound akin to  Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, two of her musical touchstones."
