King Zimm Biography
Khafre Zimmerman a.k.a. King Zimm was born in Camden, New Jersey in March of 1989. He started writing poetry in his early years after his family moved to Philadelphia. He got his start writing songs in middle school, after a series of heated schoolyard rap battles. His passion for music grew throughout his teenage years, due in no small part to his musical family. With a producer for an uncle, a singer for a mother, and a classically trained percussionist and arranger as a father, along with a host of talented cousins, friends and kinfolk, Khafre drew his influence from a wide range of genres.
In high school, Khafre was introduced to a number of styles, which he incorporated into his own. Stars like Jimi Hendrix, Sublime and Led Zeppelin shared playlist slots with the likes of Eminem, Jay-Z and Kanye West. During that time, Khafre quickly picked up the guitar, and fell in love instantly.
In college, he performed at Howard University’s Homecoming concert for three consecutive years, as well as the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. Taking every available opportunity, Zimm rocked nearly every stage in the Washington, D.C. metro area and had the unique experience of opening for great artists like Big Sean, Rick Ross, and J-Cole to name a few.
As he was coming of age, King Zimm pioneered a new style that he calls “Rock & Flow”, which combines the best of Hip-Hop, Soul and Rock & Roll. You can hear his signature style shine through whether he is warming up a cozy room with his acoustic guitar, setting the roof on fire backed by heavy Hip-Hop beats, or whipping the crowd into a frenzy with his band, The Rising Suns. With a soulful voice, masterful flow, and sweet melodies, Khafre “King Zimm” Zimmerman is a crowd pleaser with a wide range of good vibrations. He has a song for every emotion, navigating from one style to another, all while keeping the Rock n’ Flow sound intact.
