"The New Yorker" dubbed them "the world's reigning male chorus," and now multiple Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer is dedicating an entire evening to psalms from some of the greatest composers of all time. The first vocal ensemble voted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, Chanticleer has been wowing audiences for almost four decades, with voices from countertenor to bass and original interpretations of tunes from classical to jazz and gospel. For this concert at St. Francis Church in Sacramento, Chanticleer will perform transcendent prayers of thanksgiving and consolation, psalms of happiness and paeans of praise by Dufay, Poulenc, Cornelius, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and more, along with the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner John Harbison's first-ever composition for Chanticleer.
