Cathedral of Christ the Light
2121 Harrison St, Oakland, CA 94612
Acclaimed a cappella ensemble Chanticleer brings their annual Christmas program to Oakland's Cathedral of Christ the Light. The 12-member male chorus, beloved in the Bay Area and beyond, brings the season's power and mystery, warmth and intimacy to capacity audiences in beautifully decorated churches, cathedrals, and missions throughout the country. Nanino, Byrd, Praetorious, Gabrieli, Villette and Poulenc are among the composers who wrote of what happened in that manger long ago; Joseph Jennings, Robert Shaw, Alice Parker and Robert de Cormier are a few who've created beloved arrangements of popular carols and songs. Seasonal anthems and carols by Americans from Billings to Ives to Steven Sametz will make for a classically rich and resplendent "Chanticleer Christmas".
