About this concert
Free concert, open to all. Sursum Corda, premier choral group from Birmingham, was founded in 2006 to perform great choral music of the Christian and Jewish traditions, and over the years, has broadened that repertoire to include a varity of secular works, including commissions for original compositions. Their October 3rd program includes works of Williametta Spencer, Salamone Rossi, Tavi Avni, Johannes Brahms, Timothy Paul Banks, Adriana Perera, Robert Sieving, Kristina Vasiliaukaite (Missa Brevis in four movements), Lester Seigel and Gail Kubik. Its conductor is Lester Seigel, who is Joseph Hugh Thomas Professor of Music at Birmingham-Southern College, and Choirmaster/Organist of Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
