Katie sings the Blues Biography

Katie Bradley Katie was born into a heritage of enriched musical roots, her parents were of the 1960’s scene in London. Katie’s parents are accomplished Musicians playing Legendary London Folk and Blues Clubs and who experienced the British Blues explosion as it happened. Katie grew up with music all around her from Blues and Soul to Celtic Folk which are all part of her musical make-up. Katie picked up the Blues harp at age 12 after listening to greats such as Little Walter and James Cotton and has never looked back Katie is a vocalist with a tremendous range from haunting and soulful to huge belting Blues winning her instant acclaim wherever she performs. Katie travelled to Europe and America in her teens honing her craft playing prestigious residencies, her love for Mississippi Delta to Chicago City Blues earned her guest appearances at Jazz and Blues Clubs wherever she ‘lay her harp case’. One of her earliest encounters with the Blues was playing impromptu duet with the late Luther Allison on his visit to London. Later in 2013 this encounter would be complimented (by chance) playing with his son Bernard Allison whilst Katie was appearing at a Blues Festival in Tenby , Wales UK Katie is a prolific songwriter in 2013 Katie recorded her song ’I hear the river’ with Arranger and Guitarist Dudley Ross on a debut Blues album titled ‘She’s Ready’ a heartfelt thankyou to Muddy waters. ‘I hear the river’ was nominated in the British Blues Awards 2013 and came runner up in a public vote. The track had it’s debut play on Paul Jones BBC Radio 2 Blues Show and the following week it entered the i-tunes Blues chart at no.7 shoulder to shoulder with Seasick Steve and Blues master Son House. Katie is an independent artist who’s full potential is yet to be tapped by a major label. Katie has achieved many milestones already and keeps in constant demand, playing festivals in Europe and worldwide; opening for acts as varied as Georgie Fame, Geno Washington and Suzanne Vega. Professionally and musically Katie is regarded as the ‘Real Deal, a real Blues woman ’. Katie is well on her way to conquering all the Blues fans in Europe and the US with her soulful, powerful and emotive voice and a Blues harp style that captures the imagination of Music lovers outside of the Blues world too. Her gorgeous, original song, ‘I Hear the River’, is one of the songs of the year for me, I get goose bumps every time I play it! It comes from her debut CD which features an excellent mix of original material and very good covers and is receiving a great deal of well-deserved praise and plenty of airplay. Katie is definitely an artist whose star should be in the ascendancy and I look forward to a great and successful future for her.” - Ashwyn Smyth - www.digitalblues.co.uk Praise for “She’s Ready” “Beautiful love song Katie.
