Brighter Than Today: A Secular Solstice (NYC 2016)
Saturday, December 17th, 2016
6:00 PM
Concert Hall, NY Society for Ethical Culture
2 W 64th St, New York, NY 10023
The annual Secular Solstice concert/gathering, hosted by the NY Humanist Culture community!!

Come, sing along and be swept away in a genuinely moving experience (lasting 2+ hours), that highlights the undefeatable drive of humanity, which-- among many other things-- regularly turns even the longest, darkest night of the year into an affirmational festival of lights!

Once again, The Bliss Jockeys will serve as the house band, providing music on their own, as well as backing up a variety of additional singers throughout the night.

~~~
There is still darkness, cold, hunger and pain in the world. We have work left undone. The story of civilization is not finished. But we have journeyed far together. And as the winter season sets upon us, we will gather and sing of how humankind transformed the season of darkness into a festival of light.
CONTENT NOTES:
- Mild social pressure to sing.
- Unflinching discussion of death and human extinction.
- At least one sappy song about love and community.
- At most one talk which references the probable non-existence of God (but the primary thesis of which is not about atheism).
- Solstice is rated "PG-13." Children are welcome but parents should use their judgment.
