About this concert
The FADER Presents:Remy Bankshttps://soundcloud.com/remybanksSome would say the ideal rapper is comprised of the perfect mixture of style, lyrical ability and flow. Others just say its Remy Banks. The 26 year-old Queens native has always had a way with the mic. From his beginnings in his rap group, Children of the Night to his duty as frontman of Queens super crew, Worlds Fair – Remy’s unique style combines classic golden era boom-bap with futuristic sounds that the NYC rap scene has never come across.Born in Jamaica, Queens and raised in Forest Hills, Remy has seen both sides of the borough. His versatile style both on and off the microphone exemplify this rigid dichotomy. “Growing up, I was all over queens. Bayside to Southside, Long Island City to Hollis, I embraced the whole borough”. Remy started to take rapping serious at age of 19 when he and his Worlds Fair co-stars first met. “We all grew up together one way or another so we started a conglomerate and gave it a name”. With the help of Remy’s undeniable persona and the group’s uncanny ability to rock the mic, Worlds Fair had the spotlight shining on Queens. After the very successful release of the crew’s first album Bastards of the Party under Fool’s Gold Records, Remy knew his time was next.Remy’s upcoming project Higher is his second solo effort but his first after Worlds Fair’s success.Nasty Nigelhttps://soundcloud.com/nastynigel“The reality is that drinking tends to come with its moments of dead-set certainty followed eventually by sloppy mood swings and profound regret and a disorientation that is really more anger at yourself for walking like Quasimodo. Also there’s just a lot of incoherent noise. If that’s your experience with being drunk, then you will find a kindred spirit in Nasty Nigel, a.k.a. Nigel from World’s Fair, a.k.a. Nigel Rubirosa, whose new song “Boone’s Farm” feels exactly like that. It’s a diary of years of getting drunk that sounds like it’s being delivered to you drunkenly in the street in front of a bar. “Four Loko hit / 19, stomached the shit / I mean how young can we get? / dumb as a brick,” Nigel raps before howling his way into a hook of sorts: “I had a job that paiiiiid / then threw it all awayyyyyy.” -Noisey
