In 1960, Peter Yarrow was hanging around a club in the Village with Albert Grossman, later Bob Dylan’s manager, discussing Grossman’s idea for “an updated version of the Weavers.” The result: Peter, Paul and Mary. The group recorded the first million-selling Dylan song, Blowin’ in the Wind, without benefit of a final “g.” In addition to being a fine performer, Yarrow cowrote one of their biggest hits, “Puff, the Magic Dragon.” You can debate its meaning during the audience Q&A. We’ll talk, he’ll sing, you’ll kvell.
Person Place Thing is an interview show by Randy Cohen based on this idea: people are particularly engaging when they speak not directly about themselves but about something they care about. Guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing that are important to them. The result?  Surprising stories from great talkers.
