Soprano Jennifer Zetlan (Metropolitan and Seattle Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Broadway) sings a program tracing the arc of life’s progress - the delights of childhood as expressed by Stephen Foster, Poulenc, Debussy, and Ravel, falling in love as captured by Turina and Granados, and the longing for eternal life in light of our mortality as evoked by poet Emily Dickinson and set by composer Ricky Ian Gordon in the cycle Too Few The Mornings Be.
About Jennifer Zetlan:
Soprano Jennifer Zetlan continues to garner recognition for her artistry and captivating stage presence. She has debuted on the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera and Florida Grand Opera. On the concert stage she has performed with the New York Philharmonic, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony, The Juilliard Orchestra and has been heard at Carnegie Hall in recital and with Oratorio Society of New York, Musica Sacra, and the New York Youth Symphony.About David Shimoni:First-prize winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Young Artist Auditions, pianist David Shimoni has performed extensively throughout the United States. Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Mr. Shimoni attended the North Carolina School of the Arts in high school, earned a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College, and obtained masters degrees in both solo and collaborative performance from the Juilliard School. He completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. About Ricky Ian Gordon:Ricky Ian Gordon was born on May 15, 1956 in Oceanside, NY and raised on Long Island. After studying piano, composition and acting, at Carnegie Mellon University, he settled in New York City, where he quickly emerged as a leading writer of vocal music that spans art song, opera, and musical theater. Mr. Gordon's songs have been performed and or recorded by such internationally renowned singers as Renee Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, Nathan Gunn, Judy Collins, Kelli O'Hara, Audra MacDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, Nicole Cabell, the late Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Frederica Von Stade, Andrea Marcovicci, Harolyn Blackwell, and Betty Buckley, among many others.
