The Gentlemen Swank Biography

From the depths of the South Texas brush country, a fresh yet familiar sound is finding its way into the ears and hearts of music listeners across the Third Coast. The Gentlemen Swank, led by Zach Woodall (guitar/vocals) with the support of Skyler Olson (bass) and Travis Hildenbrand (drums) are creating some serious waves from their home base in San Antonio, Texas. The band released their first EP, Cottonmouth, in 2011 and placed their mark in the Texas music scene playing live shows up and down Interstate 35. After spending several years at the University of Texas in Austin and parting ways with his previous rhythm section, Woodall returned to San Antonio to unite with current Swanksters Olson and Hildenbrand. The three began attacking the project with a new vigor in early 2015, gelling as group, resulting in the refined and unmistakable sound featured on their first full length album, The Dirt Down Here (2016). The music of The Gentlemen Swank is described as Post-Blues; constructed with an energetic, emotional blend of technical guitar work, ripe with delta blues influence, and a progressive approach to songwriting. Like the Texas highways that traverse the same routes once used by cattle drivers and outlaws, The Dirt Down Here brings new life to the storied blues-rock traditions of Texas and the Deep South. With a refreshing moxie, The Gentlemen Swank are breathing life into a genre that finds itself becoming increasingly stale to the modern audience. One thing anyone can agree on is this small band boasts a larger than life sound, while remaining grounded and accessible to a variety of musical tastes. Wherever the sounds of The Gentlemen Swank are heard, bet on some good ol’ foot stompin’ Texas Rock n Roll. A trio from San Antonio, Texas.
