Davies Symphony Hall
201 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94102
Prize-winning Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin joins the San Francisco Symphony under the baton of Andrés Orozco-Estrada in a performance featuring works by two of his most famed musical countrymen. Kozhukhin's acclaimed debut album featured Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas Nos. 6, 7 and 8, but on this visit to Davies Symphony Hall, he'll tackle the composer's notoriously difficult No. 2. "The Guardian" gave him raves for a prior performance of the piece: "From the spare chill elegance of the first movement's opening to the keyboard cascades that followed, Kozhukhin had an absolute free-ranging authority." The symphony is also set to play Rachmaninoff's melodic, energetic and romantic Second Symphony.
