Eostar Kamala Biography

Devotee to the “Eternal One”, Eostar is a unique color on the palette of international devotional music in the Western World. Kirtan with Eostar is a journey into the heart of devotion on the wings of transcendental guitar sound and the voice of mantras. Her transcendental sound is intended to resonate in the deepest of one’s heart, transporting one into a state of bliss through ecstatic singing, dance and movement. Eostar’s musical gifts revealed themselves to her at the foothills of the sacred Mount Shasta where she embraced singing, guitar and songwriting on her spiritual path to awakening. After doing a yoga teacher training in the Sivananda lineage, she started focusing more on bringing the ageless and ancient tradition of devotional yoga practice into her music through Sanskrit chanting. While appreciating Hindu traditional devotional songs, she also felt that she wanted to give a more authentic expression to these chants through an eclectic, diverse and Western delivery. This is why Eostar’s devotional chants - even though they preserve the Sanskrit lines in their original form - always diverge from the norm, bringing a new and unique flavor to our Western Kirtan culture. After many years of playing kirtan music with her former band, “Fearless Love” in Oregon, Eostar is now based in the Bay Area and continues to inspire amazing ecstatic moments of communal singing and dancing through traditional chanting in a modern heart-opening musical form. Her accomplished musical performance is resonant with her devotional music band, now complete with Mathias Pailas on lead guitar, Richard Williams on sarod, buzuki, oud and shakuhachi flute, Sydney Leigh on tablas and Richard Cole on bass. With a special gift and knack for melody, Eostar effortlessly channels beautiful songs from the muse and has amassed a vast repertoire of original sacred songs over the last 12 years. Eostar is well-studied in many different spiritual paths, all of which merge together in her songs of devotion and spiritual awakening. Eostar has 3 CD releases to her credit . The first album “Devotion” with “Fearless Love” recorded at Om Studios was released in 2008. Her second album, “Rose and Lotus” with Fearless Love was released in the Spring of 2011. “West Coast Alive!” with WEB of ONE (Eostar’s devotional rock band) was released in 2013. In addition to her devotional music band, Eostar is also co-founder – with Mathias Pailas - of the psychedelic devotional trance jam band named “WEB of ONE” as a more dance-oriented pop-culture-infused version of kirtan and devotional acoustic music. www.WEBofONE.net More recently Eostar joined “Om At Last’ – a devotional dance music band, which is the new incarnation of the former “Lost At Last”. She sings on the new “Om At Last” album “Dance Medicine” and has been performing as a vocalist and a didgeridoo player in the group since June of 2012. Eostar has performed with many talented musicians such as Omkaro, Deva Priyo, and Jaya Lakshmi from Lost At Last, Lakshmi Devi, Fantuzzi, Windsong, Scott Huckabay and Glenn Falkenberg. She has played widely along the West Coast from Seattle to the Bay Area and at festivals such as the Oregon Country Fair, the Mystic Garden Party, Peace Village Festival, Raw Spirit Festival, New Earth Festival, Pranafest , the Seattle Folklife Festival and Synthesis2012 in Mexico. Eostar regularly plays at yoga studios as well as conscious healing centers. Recently Eostar also toured in Hungary, her country of origin. Please visit www.eostar.net for more info. Mystic, songwriter, yoga-teacher, shamanic healer, sound-alchemist and visual artist, Eostar is devoted to facilitate real spiritual experiences .
