David Geffen Hall
10 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023
Here's a great chance to catch stunning live performances of symphonic works both beloved and new as the New York Philharmonic and pianist Jonathan Biss perform Beethoven's dramatic Second Piano Concerto and Timo Andres's new piano concerto "The Blind Banister", part of a project creating new concertos inspired by each of Beethoven's five. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Music, "The Blind Banister" has been hailed as "a captivating work ... that goes from haunting and hopeful to an eventual explosion of energy" ("St. Paul Pioneer Press"). Rounding out the evening at David Geffen Hall are selections from Berlioz's "Romeo and Juliet" and Elgar's evocative "In the South (Alassio)".
