New Hope Presbyterian Church
19800 108th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98031
Renowned colortura soprano Megan Chenovick joins the Seattle Festival Orchestra to perform two works from opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean in this stirring concert at the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Kent. Inspired by the writing of poet and screenwriter James Agee, "Knoxville: Summer of 1915" by Samuel Barber is a lush and richly textured description of an idyllic evening in the American South, sung from the perspective of a young boy. Similarly, Mahler's Symphony No. 4 draws inspiration from the German folk song "Das himmlische Leben", which describes Heaven from the perspective of a child.
