About this concert
Come join Benjamin Butler, Jordy Searcy, and Jess English for an intimate night of music at Montgomery listening room, The Sanctuary! $7 Presale, $10 at the door. From Montgomery, Alabama comes Benjamin Butler, a man who has built his life on playing music and accepting way too many dares. His musical background begins long before his fingers could strum a guitar. Benjamin sang in his crib even before he could talk. It wasn’t until age 11 that he took up guitar after telling his mom he wanted to do so because “The chicks dig it.” But playing music was merely a hobby for Benjamin as he entered his first year at Auburn University. One Saturday of his first semester, the passing of his girlfriend caused Benjamin to turn to his guitar in a different way. He began to write his own songs, which he says helped heal him. It didn’t take long after that for Ben to start performing. He’s come a long way from the burrito wage at his first gig playing for the customers of Moe’s Southwest Grill in Montgomery. Butler’s stories have moved audiences in coffee shops, homes, and venues all over the Southern United States. The Bluebird Café of Nashville and Eddie’s Attic of Atlanta are no strangers to Butler either. Come this summer, having been out of school for a year, splitting time between Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Nashville, and the Appalachian Trail, he embarked on a physical journey to continue the internal one of finding his place in this world: a 1,600 mile walking tour from Maine back to Nashville. A beautiful day for Benjamin means enjoying the simplicity of nature through the thin cocoon of a hammock. Camping for him usually involves sleeping in parking lots, torrential downpours, and plans that go completely awry. Ask Benjamin about any of these and you’ll hear an animated tale of how it all happened. The good, the bad, and the ugly experiences all have something in common- the makings of great stories. A man of stories- this is Benjamin Butler.Jordy Searcy is one of the best new voices in the southeastern United States, but beyond that, he knows how to write and perform his singer/songwriter material in a way that really showcases his pipes. Jordy's carefully crafted songs have the new energy of artists like Ed Sheeran and Brett Dennen, and the timeless melodies and lyrics of artists like James Taylor and Paul McCartney. All of the coaches on The Voice had something good to say about him when he climbed the ranks of the television singing competition in 2014.After the show, Jordy recorded and released his first 4 song EP "Seasons" which went to #5 on Apple Music singer/songwriter charts. Jordy has since racked up around 60,000 streams on services like Spotify. In 2016, Jordy hit the road, playing 80+ shows in the first half of the year alone. The tour went differently than most first tours do, and that’s because it was filled with established fans waiting to hear more new music from Jordy."I do my best every night to connect with people through everything I do. For me, the feeling is the same when you play for three people as when you play for three hundred-it's all about sharing a moment with someone." -JordySee what the buzz is about, and come see Jordy Searcy on tour this fall!Jess English is a Montgomery, Alabama native chasing after her dream of being a singer songwriter. Taking a year off school at Auburn University and living in Nashville, Tennessee, the young musician was coached by Grammy-winning songwriters to advance her skill and was given the opportunity to play at the well-known Bluebird Cafe. Her YouTube video with her sister Kendall Williams titled “Taylor Swift Mashup” caught the attention of over 66,000 people and was featured on TSM.com as well as the local news station WSFA. Jess has recently lived in Los Angeles, California working for some of the music industry’s most successful songwriters and producers. She is returning to Auburn this Fall for one last semester to complete her Public Relations degree. Previous music, such as her single "Radio," was released under the name 'Jessica Williams’ and is available for purchase on iTunes.
