About this concert
Where is contemporary ballet heading? To some very exciting and unexpected new places, if San Francisco Ballet's latest program, "Contemporary Voices", is any indication. Widely considered to be among the top three ballet companies in America, SF Ballet looks to the future with this evening of contemporary ballet works, which includes Yuri Possokhov's expansive, East-meets-West ballet "Fusion", plus "Salome", the first major American commission for Arthur Pita, the self-styled "David Lynch of dance." Presented at the historic War Memorial Opera House, the show concludes by turning up the heat with "Fearful Symmetries", Liam Scarlett's highly physical and deeply sensual new work that debuted to standing ovations in 2016.
