Lu Silver

. Lu Silver String Band è il nuovo progetto del cantante Luca Donini in arte “Lu Silver”, ex cantante dell'hard rock band Small Jackets nella quale ha militato dal 2001 al 2010 dando alla luce tre dischi per la Go Down Records: “Play at high level” (2004), “Walking the boogie” (2006), “Cheap Tequila” (2009). In precedenza, negli anni '90, aveva suonato la batteria per diversi anni con la garage band Hairy Fairies registrando il disco “Electric Fairytales” nel 1996 per l'etichetta svizzera Max Picou Records. Il 2010 è l'anno in cui Lu Silver inizia il progetto da solista, scrive musica e parole ispirato da diverse influenze musicali. Nel gennaio 2014 esce sempre per l'italiana Go Down Records l’album: “Voices, harmony, silver strings”. Con questa prima opera viene dato spazio a varie sonorità, grazie all'uso di chitarre acustiche a sei e dodici corde, semi acustiche ed elettriche e di una vasta strumentazione tra cui pianoforte, armonica, sassofono, hammond e mellotron. Sono tante e di ampio spettro le fonti musicali a cui queste armonie attingono, il che permette al suono di svilupparsi e di prendere innumerevoli strade e al disco di guadagnare in versatilità. Lu cura gli arrangiamenti e suona buona parte della strumentazione. Il nuovo progetto è di attitudine rock con chitarre che riportano a volte alla west coast, altre al rock blues con qualche sfumatura country senza perdere di vista le cadenze “boogie”. Ottimo per chi nel cuore ha gruppi come Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grand Funk Railroad e Black Crowes. Fra le varie influenze c'è anche la musica inglese: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Terry Reid, Humble Pie e Frankie Miller. Il 2014 è un anno importante, dove si consolida la formazione che lo accompagna dal vivo: la String Band. Lu e la String Band trascorrono gran parte del periodo seguente on the road e nell'aprile 2015 si ritirano in studio per registrare 12 nuove canzoni per il nuovo album “The soul comes back to boogie” uscito nel aprile 2016 per la Go Down records. La String Band comprende LU SILVER: voce solista, chitarra ritmica, armonica e percussioni; ALESSANDRO TEDESCO: chitarra solista (ex chitarrista della stoner band OJM e de Glincolti); EL XICANO: tastiere, pianoforte, seconda voce e basso (chitarrista e cantante degli AUSTRALIA); MATT DRIVE: batteria. The Lu Silver String Band is singer Luca Donini's latest project. Luca - a. k. a. "Lu Silver" - is the former singer of hard rock band Small Jackets, which heled from 2001 until 2010. During his time with the band, they released three albums for the italian label Go Down Records: Play at High Level (2004), Walking the Boogie (2006) and Cheap Tequila (2009). Previously, in the 1990s, Lu also spent many years playing drums for the garage band Hairy Fairies, recording an LP titled Electric Fairytales (1996) for the swiss record label Max Picou Records. 2010 was the year in which Lu decided to break out on his own as a solo artist, writing music and lyrics inspired by a variety of different influences. January 2014 saw the release of another of Lu's recordings on Go Down Records: solo album Voices, Harmony, Silver Strings. This album showcased a mixture of sounds, thanks to his use of 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, as well as semi-acoustic and electric guitars. The album also features a wide variety of instruments such as piano, harmonica, saxophone, hammond organ and mellotron. The record benefits from harmonies inspired by a wide array of musical influences, allowing the sound to travel through innumerable pathways. Not only did Lu personally curate the arrangements on this album, he also did a good amount of the instrumentation himself. This new project has the rock attitude with occasional touches of West Coast guitar sound; at other times it is more reminiscent of blues with a touch of country, without, however, losing its "boogie" rhythms. Fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grand Funk Railroad and Black Crowes will love this sound. One can also note the significant influence of British bands such as Beatles, Rolling Stones, Terry Reid, Humble Pie and Frankie Miller. 2014 was an important year which saw the consolidation of his band's live act: the String Band. Lu and the String Band spent much of this period on the road and in april of 2015 they entered the studio to record twelve new songs for the new album titled The Soul Comes Back To Boogie, released in april of 2016 for Go Down Records.
