Kill Your Darlings Biography
Kill Your Darlings are the North London Alternative-Rock project of brothers Alex and Rob Matthews, formed in 2014 with life-long musical collaborators Joe Herbert, Andy Lambert and Martin Bow.
Intimate melodic vocals and an adept use of vocal harmony draw you into songs that move lyrically from lamenting to sardonic. Rich layers of effect heavy guitars and characteristic touches of violin, piano and synth combine over a driving back-beat to create a unique and powerful sound.
The band’s style derives from a mix of the 2000’s Indie and Folk Rock scenes (Death Cab For Cutie, Nada Surf, Fleet Foxes, Biffy Clyro), undercurrents of the 90’s grunge they were weaned on and elements of 60’s rock eccentricity.
Kill Your Darlings have performed at London venues such as Scala, The Barfly, The Amersham Arms, Cargo, The Natural History Museum and HTH Arts Centre (Time Out Live). They have also supported established acts including The Correspondents and Minor Alps.
