This venture gained her the nickname "Mamma Coal" (coined by one of her band mates) and became the inspiration for her next music project: Raven Haired Vixen, a re-imagining of Willie Nelson's classic outlaw concept album Red Headed Stranger. Casting a female in the lead role, Stasney blends her own compositions with covers to tell the story of mother-turned-outlaw who must fight to protect her son in the wilds of the old west. With a sound that blends outlaw country with blue eyed soul, adding a touch of noir and mariachi horns, Mamma Coal's re-imagining of Willie's classic narrative album will delight lovers of the original and fans of genre bending country artists like Sturgill Simpson and Kasey Musgraves.Local powerhouse Paul Brainard impresses on pedal steel, guitar and trumpet. Benny Nugent (of Denver, Dolorean) displays his dynamic skills in a wide range of rhythmic styles. Anita Lee Elliot (Brothers and Sister, Sally Ford) graces us with her bass prowess and harmony vocals. While Carra Stasney explores the depth of her range from soft lullaby, to bluesy growl, to a free spirited yodel.Albums will be on sale at a one night only discount of $10 for physical CD, $8 for digital download card.
