Bandshes

Bandshes came together by chance during the summer of 2013. Friends since their Freshman year of high school, their eventual formation as a musical group was unexpected. Lead singer and songwriter, Zoe Chatfield, had been writing songs independently until collaborating for the first time with Athena Demaille Von Schmidt during their sophomore year of high school at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. During their Senior year, the two collaborated and wrote songs together for a school project and did a few small performances together. The summer after graduation, Zoe was asked to open for award winning singer-songwriter Kate Callahan with Athena on piano. During a jam session the night before the gig, a family friend suggested that Emily Gregonis join Zoe and Athena in their songs, and thus Bandshes was born. Since then, they released a rough demo in August of 2013, and a rough EP in March of 2014. The song, “Lost Cities,” on the March EP entitled “Beautiful World” appears in the horror movie, “Unfriended,” released to theaters in April 2015, and a re-recorded/re-written version appears in the Hartford Prints! 2017 holiday commercial.
