Aura Awake

Aura Awake is a metal band from Baltimore, MD that pulls from a variety of collective influences (Thrash, Pop, Hip-Hop, Noise, Prog, Punk, Hardcore, Alternative, Electronic, R&B, Melodeath, Groove, etc.). Originally known as Area 52 (2009-2016), the band has recently re-branded themselves in order to convey how far they have come since they originally formed the band as teenagers. They've continued to work together and grow as artists and as individuals, and have come along way since they first practiced together in their parents' basements! Trip Cahouet (Drums), Sam Friia (Vocals/Bass), and Jeff Tegeler (Vocals/Guitar) met at Priddy Music Academy in Millersville, MD but left to focus on writing original music shortly after Jeff joined the band. They recorded their first EP "Insanity Reigns" at The Jam House in Millersville, MD and released it independently in 2013. Their first music video "Honor in Secrecy" was filmed at The Sidebar in Baltimore, MD and released in 2014. The band signed on with Alchemical Records in 2015 with whom they released their sophomore EP "The Great White", which was recorded at Song Builder Studios (Catonsville, MD), UNH Studio B (New Haven, CT), and BMW Productions (Prince Frederick, MD). The band also has a number of fun side projects including Earthworm von Doom and Strawberry Cheesesteak. Aura Awake has a strong following in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia as well as the New England area. They have received radio airplay on both college FM stations as well as internet radio. They have performed as supporting acts for both national and international artists including: D.R.I., The Agonist, Holy Grail, 1349, Torche, Defeated Sanity, Drewsif Stalin, Edisun, Vattnet Viskar, Necrophagia, and others.
