Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
1037 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97205
From Coachella to the opera house, Eighth Blackbird is one of the most adventurous instrumental ensembles in chamber music today, combining the finesse of a string quartet, the energy of a rock band and the audacity of a storefront theater company. The Chicago-based Grammy-winning sextet are known for collaborating with musicians who straddle the rock and classical worlds. At the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, they'll perform "Murder Ballades", an all-new work by composer and The National guitarist Bryce Dessner. The concert also includes singer-songwriter Bonnie "Prince" Billy, who will perform a set of original songs, along with Frederic Rzewski's iconic "Coming Together".
