Aelfen Biography

Aelfen was founded in 2011 by Sarah Horn and James Cudworth. Together with musicians that shared a love of high octane live dance music they created a band specifically to perform at Galtres Festival. The delightful and charming current line-up consists of: Andrew Horn A diverse musician, Andrew played with Sarah and James as occasional percussionist. He can also be found throughout the land performing with The Frumptarn Googen Band. Andrew is set to study music at popular York musical institute The Jam Factory. Bradley Blackwell A veteran of the festival and live music scene, Brad has been a key session player for many big name acts across the country. Between his hectic work schedule he is currently studying for a degree in Physics at The University of York. James Cudworth A multi-instrumentalist, James can usually be found gigging around Liverpool with acts from a variety of genres from jazz to rock. James graduated in 2014 with a degree in Music/Popular Music from the University of Liverpool. Sarah Horn As such a renowned fiddle layer Sarah is certainly kept busy. Playing along with numerous acts from around the York area, including Alistair Griffin, she somehow found time to earn a degree in Physics from The University of York. Tom Higgs Tom has been a lover and player of all genres since first discovering his enthusiasm for music. Well versed in many styles of playing, from jazz to pop, he is highly proficient on many instruments. Tom earned a degree in Music Technology from Derby University. Tim Bradshaw The most recent addition to the Aelfen line-up, Tim is a powerhouse of beats and rhythms with a collection of musical instruments that is nearly impossible to keep track of. A keen lover of world music, he currently teaches at Kettlethorpe High School, following a degree in Music from Leeds College of Music.
