Noemi Nuti Biography

Born in New York City, from Italian descent, Noemi’s musical personality has always been characterised by a fusion of Mediterranean and metropolitan sounds. She started her journey at 8 years old studying Folk harp in Italy to then receive a BA in Music from Brunel University on Classical harp. Her fascination with jazz started in 2008 when she joined “Jazz Alive”, a project for young musicians led by Tomorrow’s Warriors (ESKA, Gary Crosby, Soweto Kinch, Orphy Robinson).

In 2012, she graduated from Trinity College of Music, London with a Masters in Jazz. She studied with notable teachers Anita Wardell, Nia Lynn, Simon Purcell, Martin Speake and Julian Siegel and since graduating, she has gone on to tour in Brazil in 2013 as the lead singer of Barak Schmool’s British samba band Rhythms of the City.
She was also a member of Pete Churchill’s London Vocal Project (performing with Norma Winstone and Kenny Wheeler) and a Worshipful Company of Musicians Young Jazz Musician of the Year finalist in 2013.

Her debut album Nice to Meet You was produced and featured trumpet sensation Quentin Collins and was the first release on the up-and-coming Ubuntu Music Label. It received wide critical acclaim across the board. Six out of eleven tracks have been featured on various radio shows, two of which on the highest possible rotation on Jazz FM.
She has toured around the UK with her own band during 2015 and 2016 with notable performances supporting Brazilian legend Marcos Valle at Islington Assembly Hall and headlining on the closing night at Ipswich Jazz Festival as well as establishing herself on the London music scene.

In 2017, Noemi collaborated with sax legend Jean Toussaint, pianist extraordinaire Liam Noble and a fantastic Brazilian rhythm section (Mario Bakuna on guitar, Moyses do Santos on bass and Alua Nascimento on percussion) to explore the music of famous Brazilian composer and artist Milton Nascimento, creating 2 fantastic performances at London’s renowned Pizza Express Jazz Club, Soho.

She regularly tours with Andrew McCormack’s Graviton internationally as lead singer, playing in prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Jazz Club, the Vortex as well as Europe.

Noemi has recorded her second album that will be entitled Venus Eye and will be released in March 2020 on the Ubuntu Music Label.
It is a celebration of the modern day female perspective through the medium of the traditional acoustic jazz quartet and the art of song form.

With the ever-present intimate sensitivity of the singer-songwriter, it explores themes of universal truths through every day experiences, reflecting the variety of these perspectives through layers of vocal harmony and the natural story-telling of jazz improvisation.

Noemi has composed nine out of the eleven tracks and is both the lead vocals and harmonies singer on the album and Paraguayan and classical harp player.
Her synergetic quartet features exquisite musicians: Chris Eldred on piano, Tom Herbert (The Invisible, Heritage Orchestra) and Emiliano Caroselli (Antonio Forcione Trio) and this particular album features flute extraordinaire Gareth Lockrane.
