David Geffen Hall
10 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023
Conductor Manfred Honeck leads the New York Philharmonic through Mahler's towering Symphony No. 1, a hymn to nature and youth incorporating European folk melodies. Audiences in Vienna greeted Mahler's first symphony with hisses when they first heard it, but today it's regarded as a masterwork. This dazzling show at David Geffen Hall also includes Beethoven's powerful First Piano Concerto performed by soloist Inan Barnatan. Called "one of the most admired pianists of his generation" by "The New York Times", London's "Evening Standard" called Barnatan "a true poet of the keyboard."
