Jonathan Suazo Biography
Jonathan -better known as SUAZ- is one heck of an artist.
A sweet tone delivers lyrical melodies that melt hearts and warm souls mixed with a strong “in your face” vibrating sound that screams raw emotion. Born in San Juan Puerto Rico to a Puerto Rican mother and a Dominican father, Suaz has been at it for a minute. He obtained his Bachelors in Jazz & Caribbean Music (Magna Cum Laude 2012) at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico and his Masters in Contemporary Performance (Magna Cum Laude 2017) at Berklee Collage of Music.
Suaz has a traveled a unique path filled with rewarding collaborations and experiences. He’s been mentored by outstanding individuals such as Karen Langevin, David Sanchez, Terri Lyne Carrington, Marco Pignataro, Miguel Zenón, Jon Patituchi, Danilo Perez, Paoli Mejías, George Garzone and Joe Lovano. This has led to the formation of an individual that can be equally comfortable on the big stage performing for thousands, at the museum providing music for groups of individuals with disabilities, and in the experimental hall incorporating body and sound to a free collective improvisation. One heck of an artist indeed
MacArthur Fellow and Grammy Nominated artist Miguel Zenón adds: “with people like Jonathan I trust that the future of music is in good hands"
