CHASKA

CHASKA es una banda formada en Arequipa, Perú el año 2002. La banda se presenta por primera vez en Arequipa en junio de 2002. En diciembre de ese mismo año el grupo gana un concurso de bandas, obteniendo como premio la grabación de 2 temas inéditos. En febrero de 2003, CHASKA presenta un demo, titulado con el mismo nombre de la banda, con 2 temas: "Sweet Lover" e "Imperio Caído". Este primer trabajo permite al grupo presentarse en distintas ciudades del Perú como Tacna, Mollendo, Puno, Juliaca, Cusco y Lima; además de tocar en la ciudad de Arica, Chile, y de ser invitados para telonear a la banda brasileña Sepultura en La Paz, Bolivia. A mediados de 2007 CHASKA presenta, por medio de su sitio en Myspace y de un disco promocional, dos temas nuevos: "Bicolour Cannibalism" y "Tuta Ch'aska", como adelanto de lo que luego sería su álbum debut, Pururauca. En 2009, la banda presenta su primer CD titulado Pururauca; álbum producido por el sello independiente Mythic Metal Productions del Perú. El álbum Pururauca permitió que CHASKA se presente en nuevas ciudades como Ayacucho, Huancayo y Cajamarca. Además de compartir escenario con reconocidas bandas como: Death Angel, Lacrimas Profundere, Mortal Sin, entre otras. "Ch'aska" es una palabra de la lengua Quechua con la cual los incas llamaban así a la estrella más luminosa, o a los luceros en el firmamento. Esta palabra está muy relacionada en especial con el planeta Venus. ------------------------------------------------------- CHASKA is a band formed in Arequipa, Peru in 2002. The first live performance was in June 2002, in Arequipa. In December 2002, CHASKA won a band contest obtaining as prize the recording of two unreleased tracks. In February 2003, CHASKA released a demo entitled with the same name of the band, including two tracks: "Sweet Lover" and "Imperio Caído". The demo allows the band to play in different Peruvian cities like Tacna, Mollendo, Puno, Juliaca, Cusco and Lima. Besides, in early 2005, the band played in Arica, Chile, and also was invited to be an opening act to the Brazilian band Sepultura in La Paz, Bolivia. In the middle of 2007, CHASKA presented in its site on MySpace and in a promotional CD, two new tracks: "Bicolour Cannibalism" and "Tuta Ch'aska", as advance of its debut album, Pururauca. In 2009, the band released its debut full-length CD entitled "Pururauca", this album was produced by the Peruvian indie label, Mythic Metal Productions. The Pururauca album allowed the band to play in other Peruvian cities like Ayacucho, Huancayo and Cajamarca. Also, the band shared the stage with well known bands like: Death Angel, Lacrimas Profundere, Mortal Sin, etc. "Ch'aska" is a Quechua word used by the Incas to name the most shining star in the sky.
