Landmarks Biography

Following their second EP, Fighting Gravity, Manchester pop rock band Landmarks are gearing up for the release of In Spite of it All, their third record as a band and the first to feature new guitarist, Nic Foley. Recorded once again by Matt Heap at Suff Studios, In Spite of it All see’s Landmarks moving further away from their pop punk roots and developing their sound. The hooks that were present on their previous EP are still very much at the forefront of the band’s sound, as are the vocal harmonies between guitarist/vocalist Brad Shea and bassist Adam Long, yet in the time that has passed since Fighting Gravity, Landmarks have undergone a lot of growth which is evident in their new songs. The addition of new guitarist Nic Foley helped stimulate this growth and allowed Landmarks to steer their sound in a direction that is much more similar to pop rock, however, drummer Tom Cordner still provides beats which demand audiences get up on their feet and bounce around during the band’s live performances. Lead single ‘Cutting Strings’ is a fantastic example of how the band’s sound has progressed yet is still recognisable as Landmarks. With a chorus that aims to work it’s way into your temple - handclaps and all - ‘Cutting Strings’ showcases the band at their most upbeat while ‘Limb from Limb’ features them at their most delicate. The variation in the five tracks that make up the EP ensures that no two songs sound the same and allows Landmarks to experiment with different styles of songwriting while giving the EP a cohesive sound start to finish. Having recently joined the Inception Press roster and now the Pioneer Music agency Landmarks look set to enjoy their busiest period as a band with the release of In Spite of it All. Through growth, Brad, Adam, Tom, and Nic have created an EP they are extremely proud of and believe they have what it takes to reach the next level. Keep your eyes and ears open.
