Brian Daggett Biography

Brian Daggett started studying drums at the age of 5 years old. Growing up in a very musical household, Brian was always around various types of music. His mother was an orchestra teacher and father a professional touring trombonist for Army bands based out of Washington DC, El Paso TX, Heidelberg Germany, and Atlanta GA. During his early years in school, Brian was associated with every musical program or activity he could find. Whether it was performing with the jazz band, pep band, symphonic band or even the pit band for the school play, Brian was involved. Outside of school he and his friends would come together to form many different kinds of bands based on any genre of music that they were into at that time. Following his graduation from high school, Brian attended Atlanta (GA) Institute Of Music graduating with honors in 1998. He quickly joined a cover band. After a few years, Brian began performing on local singer/songwriter albums as well as in pick-up studio sessions ranging from Hip-Hop to R&B, Funk, Rock, Reggae and Punk. During that time he worked closely with Shodrae Crawford, an Atlanta producer who worked with such artists as Usher, Outcast and Ludacris. From 2001 - 2012 Brian performed and toured professionally with "Groove Stain," an Atlanta (GA)- based Rock/Reggae band. During his time with Groove Stain, they released 5 full-length albums, including their 2012 release "Hit the Breaks". In May of 2010 Brian was hand picked by DC-based Reggae band SOJA to fill in for their 2010 European tour supporting Platinum recording artist Gentleman, which spanned across countries such as Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. Since his return from the overseas tour, 2011 and 2012 proved to be successful years for Groove Stain. The band hit the road in the beginning of 2011 visiting both the east and west coasts, and venues in the north and south. During that time the band opened for some of the world’s largest acts: Snoop Dogg, Toots and the Maytals, MGK, SOJA and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones to name a few. Since his departure from Groove Stain in late 2012, Brian has successfully begun to channel his energies into his regular mode of performing. His 2013 plans included a headlining U.S. tour spanning over 40 states with San Diego CA based singer / songwriter "Mike Pinto". In the fall of 2013 he kept busy with Mike Pinto touring as a support band for Grammy Award winning reggae legends Black Uhuru. 2014 kicked off with a late winter tour in select cities on both East and West coasts with Mike Pinto including a headlining show at the House of Blues in San Diego. In June, Brian met up with Tampa FL hip hop artist Hard Target for a run of select appearances in Ohio. In July after Brian and his family relocated to Myrtle Beach SC, he has joined forces with a few musicians from the Carolina Opry which include Drew Voivedich, former guitarist for Kelli Pickler. They have a cover band that performs locally in the area 3+ nights a week. In the winter of 2014 Brian got the from the call Carolina Opry / Calvin Gilmore Theatre to fill in for the drummer for 2 weeks. Since then he has performed as the 1st call drummer for the Opry multiple times in 2015.
